Viktor sat alone in his living room and watched the rain lash down outside the window. It was far too wet to do anything fun like explore the forest outside. But everything inside just seemed so boring by comparison. He’d read every single book in his library at least twice and he’d gone over all of his notes and letters he’d sent to Madame Rosevin about the map and strange flowers that he had found surrounding strange slices through the air in the forest.
Sure there was other stuff he could do in the house such as cooking or cleaning, but that wasn’t interesting. Not to mention that he had enough food prepared in the kitchen to last him a week courtesy of the cook from the inn down the road. He didn’t need any sort of baked goods either because he had enough of those too.
The only other thing he had left to do was start to sort out whatever had been left down in the basement.
It was the last thing he wanted to do considering just how much was left down there from his grandparents. For some reason when they left this house to Viktor, they decided to leave all of their belongings in it apart from their clothes and anything they needed in the palace with them.
That included a significant amount of paperwork, journals, old paintings, strange artefacts that had no paperwork attached to them, and a significant amount of locked boxes that he still had to break into. The problem with that was the fact that there was a separate box with hundreds of keys with a note that read:
All the keys you’ll need are here. If there’s one missing then let us know when you can. – Love Grandma and Grandpa
It would have been sweet, but not a single one of the keys had a label on them, and half of them looked practically the same. All this meant was that Viktor had a box of keys and not a single idea which ones belonged where.
But considering how bored he was, there was no time to find out like the present…
